The illegalization of alcohol (consumption and manufacture) was passed into law at a national level in 1919 and enacted in 1920. Learn about the profound effect this law had on the city of Chicago, both good, bad and sometimes pure evil. Follow your expert guide through downtown's Gold Coast and River North neighborhoods while viewing some famous landmarks born of prohibition and other little known gems you will only learn about here. We start and end at speakeasies where they used to run bootlegged booze and close deals with crooked cops and news reporters. Join us as we walk the streets that Al Capone and Dion O'Banion once walked. Peek into the speakeasy rooms where they drank, or grab a drink yourself, and learn the history behind the places and people that changed the very nature of the Windy City.
